{DIY} Make your own Moonsand!

Everyone has probably heard of "moonsand" if you have little ones. While it is not a wallet breaker...why buy it when you can make it easily at home and cheaper!

There are alot of recipes out there...this recipe uses oil instead of water to prevent drying out.

What you will need:

3 cups play sand (available at your local hardware store)

1 1/2 cups corn starch

3/4 cups oil to prevent drying out / alternatively you can use water

airtight container/ziploc bags

To really make it fun make several batches in different colors. You can buy playsand in many colors of the rainbow.

1. Mix the oil and cornstarch together thoroughly, till nice and smooth.
    
2. Gradually mix in the sand, one cup at a time. Really work it together with your fingers.
    
3. Just add kids! Let the fun begin! Sand box and beach toys make perfect moulds!

When you are all done...store in an airtight container/ ziploc bags

If using water, you'll need to revive it with 2-3 tablespoons of water. Just sprinkle the water over it and work it in.

Once upon a time there were four little rabbits....most of us know these words off by heart form our early childhood. I loved this story as a child and grew very fond of rabbits...back then I was lucky to have pet rabbits of my own. To this day I still adore bunnies and have two we fondly call Bella bunny and the ever charming Wellington. :) An often misunderstood animal...they are loveable and much like a pet dog...well at least my two are. :) Over the past few weeks we have had many requests for this adorable classic. As of July 15th Serendipity Creative became Serendipity Soiree and Serendipity Soiree's "home" on the net was redesigned to include all of our social sites in one handy place...and our logo was redesigned to reflect the merger of our paperie and designs with event styling.

Serendipity Soiree will remain an all inclusive place to find design inspiration of all kinds, parties, interior design, DIY, recipes, Photography and all things pretty.

We have merged all of our services....Serendipity Soiree - Paperie. Event Styling. Design. :) While we have been styling parties for several years...we mostly focused on design...we have been working for several months to get our event styling up and running. {Sneaky Peeky} Are you ready to get smurfed?! + a smurfy freebie!

Fa la la la la la Smurf the whole day long! Boy I lived for those words as an 80's child growing up with Saturday morning cartoons! I could not wait until Saturday morning to get my dose of the little blue elves! It was a ritual! I loved them and still do.

Being a lover of nostalgia and all things retro...I ran out when my children became old enough and bought whatever old copies I could find of the smurfs along with any toy I could find. LOL. It was an instant hit! My children fell in love...the kicker was none of their little friends knew what a smurf was...so it made for some interesting playschool explanations.

We were thrilled to learn a few years ago that Sony would be bringing them back...which brings me to this post. It was long awaited but hitting the theatres this July 29th are our beloved little true blue friends...and we can't wait to get smurfed when the Smurfs get lost in our favorite city NYC!! Are you ready to get smurfed?! LOL
